While a few years back a HDTV projection TV could only be bought for many thousands of dollars, perhaps over $10,000, you can now buy a 52 inch set for as little as $1,300. In the same time the technologies used have evolved significantly, meaning that many of the downsides of the first generation of rear projection TVs are now gone. In fact, if you compare a modern projection TV with a unit belonging to the first series you will find few similarities when it comes to specifications and image quality.
